From 30 November to 4 December 2020, the Year 11 students took part in an in-house work experience to set up BBs Pop Up café and serve Afternoon Tea.
From starting with a Zoom visit from a Director of HSBC who set the students the task, the week was spent researching, budgeting, planning, designing, preparing and serving an Afternoon Tea to six Year 9 students and six teachers (all socially distanced of course). The customer satisfaction survey at the end indicated that all guests would be prepared to ‘pay’ the suggested cost and most would have paid more!
The students used their Maths skills, developed research skills as well as planning, ICT, time management, teamwork and customer service skills. The week ended with students analysing the surveys and calculating that a profit of £111.37 would have been made.
Well done Year 11 – you really took on this challenge and made it successful (so successful, we have been asked to make this a yearly event!!).
